Rebecca DePalma Wake Forest University Multi-Genre Inquiry Project
How do relationships affect identity development?
This project uses The Color Purple as a base text to investigate that question. What do people gain and lose of themselves in their relationships? By investigating the characters in The Color Purple by Alice Walker in concert with other texts, I am able to consider healthy, unhealthy and abusive relationship and how the characters are affected in these situations. The different genres allow for a variety of explorations of this topic and ideas for entry points for teens to consider these how their relationships affect their identities.
This project was created for Dr. Alan Brown's Education 654 course at Wake Forest University. This assignment was adapted from Dr. Tom Romano's work on multi-genre inquiry projects. To learn more about multi-genre inquiry projects, please go to this website.
